If you’ve been scouring the net for Trust Pilot reviews, searching TikTok and getting served a million different lash brands on Insta, this blog article is for you! Although I am reviewing Tatti Lashes, I feel that this content will be helpful for anyone considering purchasing any brand of at-home individual DIY underlash lashes.

Read on for an in-depth review of the Tatti Lashes Invisi Lash Kit.

What are DIY lash extensions?

The original pioneer of DIY underlash eyelashes (I believe) was Lashify, a US brand that burst onto the beauty scene in 2017 with new lash technology; unlike traditional false eyelashes, Lashify created a brand new style of lash, designed to be glued in individual clusters underneath the lash line rather than pasted on top in a single piece. These new lashes promised to give professional results for even the most novice appliers, and best of all Lashify promoted its lashes would look great for a full week.

Now there are a LOT of different brands offering the same product, all promising professional results, easy application, and long-lasting results.

My lash history and goals

I’ve worn lash extensions continuously for the past 2 years and usually get professional lashes applied every month when I’m in Dubai. I always go for a natural, classic individual lash style and absolutely love the way they transform my beauty routine. With lashes on, there’s no need to apply a full-face of makeup for work meetings or evenings out; a dab of concealer and bronzer and off I go! My beauty ethos has always been to invest in treatments that make the day-to-day low-maintenance and lashes are a major part of this.

This slight diversion into DIY lashes came after spending 6 weeks at home in the UK. Over the weeks my beautifully applied pro lashes dropped one by one. With a holiday looming I thought it would be the perfect time to try out underlash lashes and apply them myself. I even lamented that perhaps this could replace my pricer professional lash extensions. It seemed worth a try.

My lash goals are simple: I want my lashes to look too good to be real, but you’re not 100% sure if they are or not.

What’s the best DIY lash extension brand?

I feel like I have personally browsed through most of them on offer and there are several that I noticed. The ones that I considered were Amor Lashes, Silly George, Tatti Lashes, unbranded Amazon packs, and Lashify. I did a lot of Googling and it seems that they are all very similar bar Lashify which has a superior selection of lash styles and costs triple the price of the others. In the end, I decided to go with Tatti Lashes as I preferred its natural lash option and needed something delivered quickly before my holiday. After all the research I was left with a tight time frame to actually buy the lashes!

The Tatti Lash Invisi Lash Kit

Like most lash brands, Tatti Lash offers a bundle deal for a starter kit, which includes lashes, bond, seal tweezers, and a spoolie. It comes in a plastic bag (glam) and is everything you need for your first foray into DIY lashes.

the cost

The original price is listed as £28.90, however, I got it for £21.95, and at the time of writing, it’s still available at this price. Not bad, I thought, for what is promised to be 5 refreshes of professional lashes.

For comparison, I was paying around £50 a month for professional lash infills and this is on the lower end for extensions.

The Lashes

You can customise your kit with lashes of your choice. There are 7 different styles on offer ranging from very subtle brown lashes, to dramatic volume lashes for a more glam look. Helpfully, the lashes are shown on models so you can get an idea of how they look on the eye – not all lash websites do this!

I went with the Au Naturel Soft & Natural and was happy with this choice. They’re great for an enhanced day or evening look without looking too false.

You can also choose between black or clear glue. I recommend going for the black. My sister had the clear and if you apply too much it is visible where as the black blends into your lash line.

How to apply Tatti Lashes

You’ve probably seen the social content – girls casually popping lashes on perfectly with minimal effort. When you go detective on this it becomes clear that some of the people featured in the videos actually work for the brand, and other close-up shots look like someone else is applying the lashes for the model. So I was very dubious about how easy they are to apply in real life.

I was pleasantly surprised! My first attempt to apply Tatti Lashes was a little gluey, but I did manage to get a set on in around 15 minutes and they looked pretty good. Practice definitely helps and once you know what you’re doing it’s easy. This is coming from someone who struggles with strip lashes…

I have a few tips:

Don’t forget the final lash press after applying the seal, it makes a big difference in how long your lashes last

Place the first Tatti Lash a little in from the outer corner where there is more support from your real lashes, this gives a nice natural look

Go easy on the glue, you don’t need much for the lash to hold

Hold the glue applicator so the stick is 90 degrees from the brush, this makes it easier to control application and get it where you need it only

Make sure your tweezer is completely clean between each lash application. They do say this in the instructions and it quickly becomes a very sticky situation if you ignore this

First Impressions

First impressions were fantastic. I left my hotel room with a lash look very close to my professional extensions. I felt like I’d cheated the system and could potentially save a lot of money. I was a DIY lash convert.

How long do Tatti Lashes last?

And here we have the issue… Tatti Lashes last approx 1-2 days, no more. After the second night of sleeping in them, I woke up with 2 missing from the outer corners. Yes, it’s easy to replace these but you quickly enter a cycle of needing to replace at least 1 or 2 lash clusters every day. My bed looked like a spider invasion most mornings.

I understand that this is my individual experience but as a seasoned lash extension wearer, I am very accustomed to lash care. I sleep carefully with lashes on, and never rub my eyes or get them soaked in the shower. I am convinced these would never last a full 5 days on anyone.

My sister also bought and wore Tatti Lashes for our holiday. We applied them the same day and woke up with missing lashes the same morning on day 2.

The brand says there are enough lashes for 4-8 fresh sets in every pack. For context, I replaced my missing lashes as and when needed, and finished the box in 2 weeks.

How to remove Tatti Lashes

This was not something I needed to concern myself with as most of the lashes removed themselves after a couple of days. The brand does sell a remover product, but I found that it was easy to remove the few remaining lash clusters by gently peeling them off. None of my real lashes came off with them and there was no damage.

How to remove Tatti Lash glue without remover

Although Tatti Lashes peel off without too much drama, I was left with some glue residue along my lash line. This slid off with the help of an oily balm cleanser. I used Elemis which did the job with no irritation.

How to clean Tatti Lashes

Tatti Lashes advises that you can clean and reuse the lashes up to 20 times. This is not something I have the patience for, especially as they drop off all over the place. That being said, they do seem to be a good quality so I imagine if you look after them you could re-wear and they’d still look great.

If you do want to reuse, the brand recommends using their lash remover to get rid of the glue. Oil-based cleanser would also work for this.

Final thoughts

It was very hard to score this one. Is it fair to expect them to replace professional lash extensions? Definitely not, however, this is how they are marketed so my expectations were not managed and I was a little disappointed.

To summarise…

Tatti Lashes are great if:

  • You struggle applying regular false eyelashes
  • You want great lashes for a weekend away or a special occasion

They are not for you if:

  • You’re looking for a low-cost alternative to professional lash extensions
  • You’re going on a week’s holiday and hoping not to re-apply your lashes during that time

It’s great to see how false lashes are advancing and if the staying power improved I would be a full-time convert.

Have you tried any of the DIY underlash brands? Would love to hear about your experience.
